General Services & Role

A doula provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to families before, during, and shortly after childbirth. I do not perform medical tasks. Instead, I focus on providing comfort measures and emotional reassurance, offering evidence-based resources to help guide your decision-making, and helping you advocate for your birth preferences.

Midwives, doctors, and labor and delivery nurses are clinical medical professionals. They are responsible for medical safety, performing exams, monitoring vitals, managing complications, and delivering your baby. Because they must monitor multiple patients and handle administrative charting, medical providers work in shifts and move in and out of your room. As your doula, I have no medical tasks and focus solely on you. I provide continuous, uninterrupted physical and emotional support from the moment you request me until your baby is born. While your medical team focuses on your clinical safety, I remain by your side the entire time to focus exclusively on your comfort, reassurance, and peace of mind.

Yes, I support births in all settings. Whether you plan to deliver in a hospital, a local birth center, or the comfort of your own home, my goal is to provide a supportive and stabilizing presence tailored to that specific environment.

Birth Preferences & Support Style

No, I am there to support and elevate your partner, not replace them. I guide partners on how to use comfort techniques, give them opportunities to rest or eat without leaving you alone, and help you both work together smoothly as a team.

Yes, absolutely. I support all birth choices, and my care adapts perfectly including for clients that choose to utilize medical pain management. My role shifts from active movement to strategic comfort and positioning:
After the Epidural: I utilize peanut balls and frequent passive position changes in bed to keep your pelvis open, promote optimal baby rotation, and protect your perineum during pushing.
Before the Epidural: I help you manage early labor at home or in the hospital using breathing, counter-pressure, and mental focus.
During the Procedure: I provide a calming, grounding presence to help you stay still, relaxed, and focused while the medical team places the epidural.

Yes, absolutely. My support looks different for a Cesarean birth, but it is just as vital. I focus heavily on your preparation, your comfort in the operating room, and your immediate recovery goals:
In Recovery: I immediately support you with early postpartum goals, including facilitating skin-to-skin contact and providing hands-on lactation support to assist with your baby’s first breastfeed and latch.
Before Surgery: We meet prenatally to map out what to expect, discuss options like a gentle C-section, and ensure you feel calm, informed, and mentally prepared.
In the Operating Room: Hospital policies permitting, I attend the birth right alongside your partner in the OR to provide a grounding, reassuring presence during the procedure.

Service Area & Specialties

I proudly serve families throughout Allen County and the surrounding areas. If you are unsure whether your location falls within my travel radius for birth support, please feel free to reach out and ask.

My practice focuses on comprehensive birth doula support and specialized lactation guidance. I assist you through prenatal preparation, continuous physical and emotional care during labor, and targeted clinical or informational support to help you meet your infant feeding goals.

Lactation support is seamlessly integrated into all of my birth packages. Because building a comfortable, successful feeding relationship requires consistent care, I specifically incorporate two dedicated postpartum visits for every client.
Immediate Support: I provide hands-on guidance in the critical hours and days right after birth to help you establish a secure latch and comfortable positioning.
Follow-Up Care: During our two postpartum visits in your home, we check in on your recovery, address any shifting feeding challenges, track infant cues, and ensure you feel confident and fully supported as your milk supply matures.

Logistics & Investment

Most clients book my services during their second or early third trimester (around 20 to 30 weeks). However, my schedule fills up quickly each month. To secure your spot and ensure the best chance of getting on my books, I highly recommend booking during your early- to mid-second trimester. Booking early guarantees your due date window is protected and gives us ample time to conduct prenatal visits, build a strong relationship, and comfortably map out your birth preferences.

My Birth Encouraged Doula Services package includes two prenatal visits, continuous labor support, and two postpartum follow-up visits. My Mothering the Mother Premier Package includes all of those things, plus additional postpartum nourishment options. Please visit my Services Page for current pricing and don’t hesitate to reach out for payment plan options.

I maintain a trusted, professional network of backup doulas. In the rare event that I am attending another birth or experience an emergency, a fully qualified backup doula will attend your birth until I can arrive at no additional cost to you.

I do not accept or file directly through commercial insurance. However, I can provide you with an itemized receipt upon request, which you may choose to submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Yes. Doula services and lactation support are eligible medical expenses under HSA (Health Savings Accounts) and FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts). I happily accept HSA/FSA debit cards directly for your convenience.

Yes, absolutely. I believe doula care should be accessible, so I offer flexible payment plans to break up the total investment into manageable installments leading up to your 37th week of pregnancy. We can customize a schedule that works best for your household budget.
